"Mit dem wahrscheinlich wichtigsten Aufsatz von Jürgen Habermas lässt sich leicht ein Zugang zu seinem gesamten Denken öffnen. Der ursprünglich als Rede gehaltene Text ist außerdem eine Hommage an Habermas’ Lehrer Adorno, in dem er die Tradition der Kritischen Theorie aufnimmt und aktualisiert. Schließlich ist die Rede ein Klassiker der Soziologie, dessen Titel geradezu sprichwörtlich geworden ist: Statt postmoderner Überwindung der Moderne soll das Erbe der Aufklärung in der Moderne als Projekt im Dienst einer offenen Gesellschaft verwirklicht werden.
